Chelsea Makes Initial Bid for Carreras

Spanish media reports have revealed that Chelsea has begun its efforts to sign Spanish left-back Álvaro Carreras during the current summer transfer window.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Sport", the London club has made an initial offer of €25 million to acquire the player, while Real Madrid values him at around €50 million.

Despite the significant gap between the offer made and the assessment by the Royal Club, Chelsea is still willing to continue negotiations and attempt to reach an agreement in the coming weeks, especially with Xabi Alonso as the Blues' manager.

Real Madrid signed Carreras last summer from Benfica, and the player made a strong start with the team, showcasing impressive attacking and defensive abilities. However, his performance has gradually declined in recent times, especially following the departure of Xabi Alonso and the arrival of Álvaro Arbeloa.

Chelsea's interest comes at a time when the left-back position at Real Madrid has seen a new reinforcement, following the club's signing of Spanish international Marc Cucurella from Chelsea this summer, at the request of coach José Mourinho.

Real Madrid does not seem ready to part ways with Carriera this summer, especially after Fran García's departure to Real Betis, as well as the recurring injuries suffered by French star Ferland Mendy.
