Hossam Abdel-Meguid: My professionalism isn't a 'bridge' to Al Ahly

International defender Hossam Abdel-Maguid has finalized his official agreement with Bulgarian club Ludogorets, departing from Zamalek during the current summer transfer window. The player firmly denied rumors suggesting that his move to the Bulgarian league would merely serve as a stepping stone for a future transfer to Al Ahly.

Hossam Abdel-Meguid stated in an interview with MBC Masr: "There are important steps in my path to professionalism. There is an agreement with Ludogorets and we are in the final touches, and things are going well."

He added: "Some are worried about the move to Bulgaria, but it is a preliminary step and there will be bigger and higher steps to come."

He added: "It's hard for me to leave Zamalek, but I want to be like Mohamed Salah. I wished to talk to him about this step, but the circumstances weren't available."

When asked about Zamalek fans' fears that Bulgaria would serve as a "bridge" for a move to Al Ahly, Hossam Abdel-Meguid responded: "I heard that I would be a bridge for a transfer to Al Ahly, that is not true. Al Ahly is a big club and any player dreams of playing there, but my focus is on professionalism."

He noted: "If my thinking was this way, I would have spent six months at Zamalek and then moved to Al Ahly, and I wanted Zamalek to gain the maximum financial benefit from my departure."
