Joan Laporta, the president of FC Barcelona, took advantage of his presence at the 2026 World Cup semi-final match between Spain and France in Dallas, USA, to hold a meeting with Gianni Infantino, the president of FIFA, in a move that strengthens communication between the two sides.

According to Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Laporta watched the match from the stands and witnessed the Spanish national team's qualification for the final of the tournament. He then met with Infantino in the presence of Barcelona legend Hristo Stoichkov, who serves as a FIFA ambassador.

The newspaper added that the meeting between Barcelona's president and FIFA's president was characterized by a friendly atmosphere, with expectations that the bid to host the 2030 World Cup was one of the main topics raised during the conversation.

Spotify Camp Nou is among the stadiums being considered to host the final match of the 2030 World Cup, following remarks by Barcelona's mayor, Jaume Collboni, during a ceremony for the newspaper "Mundo Deportivo." This adds significant importance to the project for the Catalan club.

Spotify Camp Nou enters the race to host the final alongside Santiago Bernabéu and the Hassan II Stadium in Morocco, which is still under construction.

Joan Laporta previously confirmed during his inauguration as president of Barcelona that Spotify Camp Nou represents the ideal venue to host the 2030 World Cup final, as the club aims to have its stadium feature the biggest event in global football.
