Aston Villa Deals Blow to Juventus
Aston Villa has made its stance clear regarding the future of Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, affirming its desire to keep the player and rejecting any notion of his departure during the current summer transfer window. This decision represents a significant blow to Juventus, who have been keen on securing his services.
Football Italia reports that Aston Villa's football operations director, Damian Vidagany, emphasized that Martinez is a crucial part of the team's project, denying all rumors linking the goalkeeper with a summer departure.
Vidagani stated: "Emiliano Martinez is very important for us, he is a key player at Aston Villa. Everything being said about his departure during this summer transfer window is just rumors, and we rely heavily on him for the team's project for the upcoming season."
He added: "The goalkeeper's future is assured; he will continue with us, and there is no intention to let him go this summer. The team needs his efforts and vast experience, and he is one of the key elements of our project for the next season."
The source indicated that Juventus had considered Martinez as their primary target to strengthen the goalkeeper position, especially with the club ready to part ways with Michele Di Gregorio, and possibly also Mattia Perin. However, Aston Villa's insistence on keeping the Argentine goalkeeper has forced the Italian club to explore other options.
A source has revealed that Guglielmo Vicario, Tottenham's goalkeeper, and Zion Suzuki, Parma's keeper, are among the top names on Juventus' radar, following stalled negotiations with Aston Villa.
Recent media reports indicated that Martinez had given his initial approval to move to Juventus, but the deal has not been finalized due to Aston Villa's insistence on keeping the player. Additionally, Juventus's refusal to raise their offer beyond €10 million has prevented an agreement between the two clubs.
