Flick's Plan Nears Completion

Hans Flick has kicked off his third season as Barcelona's head coach with the start of the pre-season preparations, prioritizing the Champions League title, which has eluded the Catalan club for 11 years.

According to Spanish outlet "Mundo Deportivo," Flick has reached an agreement with club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco to strengthen the team with new signings, following Barcelona's near-final appearance in the Champions League in 2025, before being eliminated in the quarter-finals last season.

Barcelona has secured the signing of English winger Anthony Gordon, while Karim Adeyemi is close to joining after reaching a verbal agreement with Borussia Dortmund. Argentine striker Julian Alvarez remains Flick's top target to bolster the attack.

The source added that Barcelona continues to try to persuade Atletico Madrid to part with Alvarez, taking advantage of the player's desire to wear the Catalan club's jersey after his World Cup participation.

Continuing with Joao Cancelo is still a priority for the German coach, who has been impressed by his performances since joining, while Barcelona is nearing an agreement with Al Hilal regarding the Portuguese defender.

The report indicated that signing a new center-back will depend on the departure of one of the current defenders, while Ronald Araujo's future remains uncertain, as he may reassess his position if his playing time continues to decline.
