Luis Enrique Targets Ferran Torres for PSG

Luis Enrique, the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, has made Ferran Torres a priority in the summer transfer market, requesting the French club's management to pursue the Barcelona forward after the conclusion of the 2026 World Cup, despite Barcelona's insistence on keeping the player as part of coach Hans Flick's project.

Spanish newspaper "Sport" reported that Luis Enrique sees Ferran Torres as one of the players he trusts the most, having overseen his development with the Spanish national team. He was among the first coaches to rely on him as a central striker alongside his primary position as a winger, which reflected in his impressive stats with La Roja during his tenure.

The newspaper added that the PSG coach prefers players with commitment, mental discipline, and a team spirit, qualities he believes are present in the 26-year-old player, along with his significant technical development and maturity gained in recent years.

Despite Barcelona's signing of Anthony Gordon and their imminent acquisition of Karim Adeyemi to bolster the wings, the departure of Robert Lewandowski makes losing Ferran Torres impactful, especially as the Catalan club continues its efforts to finalize a deal for Julian Alvarez to strengthen the striker position.

The Spanish newspaper also noted that Ferran Torres has gained significant trust from Luis Enrique since his time leading the Spanish national team, having shown great commitment both on and off the pitch, whether as a starter or a substitute, making him a suitable fit for PSG's current project, which relies on players with a collective spirit.

The report indicated that Barcelona recognizes Ferran Torres's technical value and will not easily agree to his departure, with the deal estimated at around €50 million, although this figure may decrease due to only one year remaining on the player's contract, while PSG remains ready to attempt to finalize the deal in the upcoming period.
