Al Ahli Eyes Greenwood Amid Fenerbahce Interest
English journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that Fenerbahce is optimistic about finalizing a deal for English striker Mason Greenwood, but Al Ahli has entered the fray in an attempt to secure the transfer.
According to Jacobs, Fenerbahce has already reached a preliminary agreement with Olympique Marseille, and the Turkish club believes it has also received the player's initial approval to move to the Turkish league.
Jacobs added that Al Ahli's approach came as a surprise today, with direct communications taking place between the club officials and the player. Coach Matthias Jaissle personally spoke with Greenwood to convince him of the sporting project in Jeddah.
Jacobs confirmed that decision-makers in Saudi Arabia are aware that Fenerbahce's agreement is quite advanced, but negotiations with the player are still ongoing, meaning the deal is not finalized yet.
Greenwood is considered one of Fenerbahce's top targets this summer, while Al Ahli aims to strengthen its attacking line with a strong signing before the new season kicks off, which could ignite a fierce competition between the two clubs in the coming days.
