Norway's Coach: We Lacked Luck, Wishing England the Best
Norway's coach Ståle Solbakken expressed his disappointment after his team's 2-1 defeat to England in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup after extra time.
Solbakken stated in his post-match comments: "I feel sad for the players. This is the highest level in sports, both beautiful and harsh at the same time. We were lucky against Brazil, but today we were not lucky."
He added: "The small details were in our favor against Brazil, but they were not today. Sometimes you are lucky, and sometimes you are not. Today the margins did not go our way, but that is life."
Regarding the disallowed Norwegian goal due to a foul on Erling Haaland during the corner kick, the coach said: "These things happen in football. All we want now is to wish England good luck for the rest of the tournament."
The Norwegian team put up a strong performance and took the lead in the first half, before Jude Bellingham turned the match around by scoring the winning goals for England, who advanced to the semi-finals.
