Al-Zawraa Begins Preparations for New Season

Al-Zawraa officially commenced its preparations for the 2026-2027 Iraqi Premier League season with the first training session held at the club's stadium in Shaljiya, led by new coach *Bassem Qassem*, marking the start of a new era for the "Nawras" aiming to reclaim titles.

The first training day saw a notable attendance from players and the coaching and administrative staff, amidst a highly enthusiastic and disciplined atmosphere.

Bassem Qassem made it clear from the outset that he intends to establish his authority, starting the session with a lengthy meeting with the players where he emphasized the importance of hard work, discipline, and restoring Al-Zawraa's prestige on the podium.

The training session included intensive fitness drills and tactical divisions, aimed at assessing the players' physical and technical readiness ahead of an anticipated external camp in the coming weeks.

One of the highlights of the first training was the presence of several new signings the club secured during the transfer period, including: Ahmed Basel, Ali Adnan, Amir Sabah, and Marlin.

After the training, coach Bassem Qassem confirmed that the current phase is one of building and establishing.

He stated: "Today we took the first step on a long journey. Al-Zawraa is a big club, and its history demands that we work with double seriousness. I am pleased to have a group of new and young players, and we will work to create a cohesive team capable of fulfilling the fans' ambitions."

He added: "The league will be tough this season with the return of the Super and the weekly match schedule without postponements. Therefore, we need high physical and technical readiness from day one."
