Vinicius Issues Official Statement: I Apologize, I Will Fight for Our Dream

Brazilian star Vinicius Junior has released an official statement via his Instagram account, following Brazil's exit from the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup at the hands of Norway.

Vinicius wrote: "After nearly four years since the 2018 World Cup, I find myself reflecting again on what to say after the disappointment in the World Cup."

He added: "I saw so many people of all ages supporting me, embracing our dream, so it would be unfair for me to remain silent."

He emphasized: "I needed a few days to think and reflect, as wearing the national team jersey is the greatest pride of my life, and leaving the World Cup in the Round of 16 is a feeling that is hard to explain."

He continued: "I know how much I prepared, how focused I was, how much I wanted this for you, for my family."

He concluded: "The feeling of frustration is ridiculous. We had a strong enough group to achieve more, and we couldn't... I apologize, and I will fight for our dream to return to the top of the world."
