Real Madrid on the Brink of World Cup Scoring Record
Real Madrid continues to make a significant impact in the 2026 World Cup, as they are on the verge of setting an unprecedented scoring record for clubs, thanks to the stellar performances of several players with their national teams during the tournament.
Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that Kylian Mbappé's goal against Morocco brought Real Madrid players' tally to 17 goals in the current World Cup, breaking the previous record held by Barcelona, who scored 16 goals in the 1994 World Cup.
The royal team now needs just one more goal to equal the record for the most goals scored by players from a single club in a single World Cup edition, which stands at 18 goals, a record shared by Honvéd in 1954, Bayern Munich in 2014, and Paris Saint-Germain in 2022.
The newspaper added that Real Madrid has a genuine opportunity to surpass this record during the remainder of the tournament, especially with some of their players still competing, alongside ensuring at least one player from their squad reaches the final match.
Kylian Mbappé leads the scoring chart for Real Madrid players in the current World Cup with 8 goals, while Jude Bellingham and Vinícius Júnior have each scored 4 goals. Notably, Brazil's campaign has ended in the tournament, while Bellingham continues to compete with the England national team.
Arda Güler also contributed to Real Madrid's scoring tally with one goal, bringing the club closer to writing a new chapter in the history of their players' World Cup participation.
