French star Kylian Mbappé sustained an ankle injury during his country's quarter-final clash against Morocco in the 2026 World Cup, a match that ended with 'Les Bleus' winning 2-0 and advancing to the semi-finals.

The injury occurred in the 62nd minute of the second half after Mbappé was tackled hard by Moroccan defender Aïssa Mandi, resulting in damage to his right ankle.

Despite the injury, the French captain continued to play until he collapsed on the pitch in the 77th minute, prompting the coach to substitute him for Jean-Philippe Mateta.

After leaving the field, television footage showed Mbappé applying an ice pack to his injured ankle in an effort to alleviate the pain, but he appeared to be in relatively good spirits after the final whistle, removing the ice pack and shaking hands with Moroccan players and his teammates on the pitch, celebrating the qualification with the French fans without showing significant signs of distress.

Mbappé's status for the World Cup semi-final remains under observation, pending medical examinations to determine his readiness for the next match.
