Roma Eyes Moreira as Greenwood Deal Stalls
Roma is exploring new options to bolster its attack during the summer transfer window, with Belgian winger Diego Moreira of Strasbourg emerging on its radar amid complicated negotiations for Mason Greenwood.
According to "Football Italia," Greenwood was the first choice for coach Gian Piero Gasperini, but intense competition for his signature has led Roma to seek alternatives. The report cites French newspaper "L'Équipe" stating that Fenerbahçe has made a €40 million offer, plus €2 million in incentives, while Atlético Madrid has re-entered the race with a €45 million bid, including €5 million in variables.
The report also notes that Greenwood prefers a move to Atlético Madrid, despite the lower financial offer, due to his desire to return to the Spanish capital, where he previously played for Getafe.
Meanwhile, "Football Italia" highlighted that Moreira has become one of the prominent names within Roma, as he is currently participating with the Belgian national team in the 2026 World Cup. Chelsea sold him to Strasbourg in the summer of 2024 for €8.5 million.
The report adds that Roma has shown interest in signing Moreira for some time, but Strasbourg is demanding around €40 million to part with the player, who also has a significantly lower salary compared to Greenwood.
