Newcastle Signs Dutch Star Sean Stoor on Long-Term Deal
Newcastle United has officially announced the signing of young Dutch midfielder Sean Stoor from Ajax on a five-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
At just 18 years old, Stoor will wear the number 14 shirt, becoming Newcastle's third signing of the current summer transfer window after the arrivals of French goalkeeper Édouard Mendy and Ivorian winger Bazoumana Traoré.
After signing the contract, Stoor said: "It feels incredible to be here. Newcastle is a big club in the Premier League, and it has always been my dream to play in the best league in the world. I had wonderful years at Ajax since joining at the age of seven, but when an offer comes from a club like Newcastle, it's hard to turn it down."
Manager Eddie Howe praised Stoor as one of the top young talents, noting that the club sees great potential in him to become an important player for the team in the coming years, and he commended the training Stoor received at Ajax's academy.
Born in January 2008, Sean Stoor began his football career at RKAV Volendam before moving to Ajax's academy in 2016. He made his first-team debut during the 2024-2025 season and had an impressive 2025-2026 season, featuring in 24 matches across all competitions, including three in the UEFA Champions League. He also won the Abdelhak Nouri Award for the best emerging talent at Ajax's academy and represented the Netherlands at various youth levels up to the U19 team.
