Emam Ashour, Egypt's national team player, has issued an apology to Egyptian fans after the Pharaohs were eliminated from the 2026 World Cup, losing to Argentina 3-2 in the Round of 16. He emphasized that the national team will return stronger and will fight to honor Egypt's name.

Egypt bid farewell to the 2026 World Cup on Tuesday after their defeat to Argentina in the knockout stage.

On his official Instagram account, Ashour wrote: "Thank God for everything... some defeats hurt more than words can express, and this is one of them."

The player, who scored two goals in the 2026 World Cup, added: "I apologize to everyone who was attached to the dream, and to everyone who believed in us and was waiting for us to make them happy. We wanted to continue the journey and achieve what befits your support... We fought with everything we had, but it was God's will."

He continued: "Thanks and appreciation to the coaching staff and all my teammates for their effort, spirit, and fight until the last moment, and the biggest thanks to everyone who supported us and believed in us from the first day to the last minute."

Ashour concluded his statements by saying: "I promise that we will come back stronger, and we will continue to fight with all we have to make you happy and honor Egypt's name... Long live Egypt always."
