Roberto Martinez's Tenure with Portugal Ends
The Portuguese Football Federation has announced the termination of its contractual relationship with the national team's head coach, Roberto Martinez, and his staff, effective today, Wednesday, officially marking the end of a three-and-a-half-year period.
The federation confirmed in an official statement that Martinez's contract has officially ended, expressing appreciation for the contributions made by the Spanish coach and his staff during their time with the national team.
The statement noted that this period saw the Portuguese national team crowned champions of the UEFA Nations League in 2025, alongside the commitment, professionalism, and dedication shown by Martinez and his team in leading the project, as well as their constant respect for Portugal and Portuguese football.
The Portuguese Football Federation added that its president has already begun the process of hiring a new head coach for the national team, aiming to continue instilling a culture of ambition and a winning spirit that should guide the Portuguese team in all competitions they participate in.
