Mourinho Aims to Revive Bellingham's Best Form at Real Madrid
Jose Mourinho is looking to bring Jude Bellingham back to the role where he shone at Real Madrid during his first season, after the player regained his impressive form with the England national team at the World Cup, delivering performances reminiscent of his standout beginnings in the royal jersey.
Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo" reported that Mourinho believes Bellingham's best version is as a playmaker, with the freedom to advance from the second line and contribute to playmaking and goal-scoring, a role that Carlo Ancelotti granted him during the 2023/2024 season.
Bellingham played a significant role in Real Madrid's successes that season, before his attacking contributions diminished following a shoulder injury, alongside later being deployed in more central midfield positions under the management of Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso, and Álvaro Arbeloa.
The report added that Mourinho believes Bellingham's performances with the England national team at the World Cup validate this approach, especially after he scored four goals during the tournament while playing in an attacking position behind the striker.
The Portuguese coach had envisioned this setup before the tournament began, planning to deploy Bellingham behind Kylian Mbappé in a three-man attacking line positioned in front of two holding midfielders, considering this positioning the optimal choice to restore the English star's best levels at Real Madrid.
