Kareem Hafez: Our Goal is to Beat Argentina and Reach the Quarterfinals
Kareem Hafez, Egypt's national team player, emphasized the extraordinary significance of facing Argentina in the 2026 World Cup, stating that participating in this historic match is a bright spot and a turning point in the career of every player aiming to represent their country in the best possible way.
Egypt is set to face Argentina tonight, Tuesday, at 7 PM in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.
Hafez said in press statements during the team's training: "Every player dreams of participating in such big matches because they represent history for each player."
He added: "The coaching staff quickly moved on from celebrating the victory over Australia and has begun focusing on the match against the defending champions, Argentina. We have watched several matches of our opponent, and our goal is to win and advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament."
Egypt advanced past Australia in the Round of 32 of the World Cup, winning 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in both regular and extra time, allowing the Pharaohs to reach the Round of 16.
Argentina, on the other hand, progressed to the Round of 16 by defeating Cape Verde 3-2 after extra time.
