The French Football Federation has submitted an official request to FIFA to cancel the yellow card received by Michael Oliseh during the Round of 16 match against Paraguay in the 2026 World Cup.

According to French network "RMC Sport," the French federation sent its request to FIFA supported by video footage, arguing that the yellow card issued to Oliseh was due to an incorrect refereeing decision.

The French federation hopes to gain FIFA's approval to prevent Oliseh from facing suspension due to accumulated yellow cards in the upcoming stages of the tournament, given his importance in coach Didier Deschamps' lineup.

The same source added that the French federation based its request on a similar precedent, where FIFA lifted the suspension of American Folarin Balogun after his red card against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32, allowing him to participate against Belgium in the Round of 16, while placing him on probation for a year.

This move by the French federation comes ahead of the anticipated clash between France and Morocco on Thursday evening at Boston's stadium, as part of the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.

FIFA is expected to make a decision regarding the request in the coming hours, before the France-Morocco match, as the French team aims to continue its journey in the tournament without losing any key players due to accumulated bookings.
