Hakimi to Mbappe: You're Not My Friend on the Pitch
Moroccan national team captain Achraf Hakimi sent a clear message ahead of the upcoming clash against France in the World Cup quarter-finals, signaling to his former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe that competition on the pitch is entirely different from their relationship off it.
Hakimi's reaction came after a video posted by Moroccan comedian Mimo Lazraq on Instagram, where he humorously discussed the friendship between the Moroccan full-back and Mbappe before the anticipated match between the two national teams next Thursday in Boston, USA.
Lazraq addressed the "Atlas Lions" captain, stating that he disapproves of the friendship with the French star, arguing that a true friend would have given Hakimi the chance to avenge the loss in the 2022 World Cup semi-finals in Qatar, adding that real friends should help each other achieve success.
The comedian continued his message in a humorous tone, urging Hakimi not to let emotions affect his performance in the match, advising him to stop Mbappe fiercely on the field and then shake hands after the game and go out for dinner, highlighting the separation between sports competition and personal relationships.
Hakimi's response was swift, as he kept it brief yet meaningful, writing: "Not my friend on the pitch," a message that underscores his priority to defend the colors of the Moroccan national team and strive to lead them to the World Cup semi-finals, away from any personal considerations or friendship ties.
