Ayman Younes: Egypt and Argentina Have Equal Chances to Win
Ayman Younes, the former Zamalek star, emphasized that Egypt's national team is delivering an impressive performance in the World Cup, stressing the need to support all players regardless of their club affiliations. Egypt is set to face Argentina tomorrow, Tuesday, in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup. Younes stated in an interview on the "Number One" program on CBC, "Egypt is a great team and is having a fantastic tournament. It is unacceptable to create divisions among players by labeling them as Ahly or Zamalek players; they all represent Egypt." He added, "The players of the Egyptian national team are champions, and as we approach the match against Argentina, I see that the chances of winning are equal for both teams, which is a positive and significant point for Egyptian football." Younes continued, "Egypt must give its all on the pitch, and I hope Hossam Hassan devises a suitable game plan, aiming to take the match into extra time, as this would give the team a better chance of achieving a positive result." He concluded by saying, "Any player tasked with marking Lionel Messi must focus solely on him and not be distracted by the ball to avoid being dribbled past. I also hope Omar Marmoush regains his form against Argentina, as his position represents one of Argentina's weaknesses, and he could play a crucial role if he performs at his best."
