Neymar has announced his retirement from international football with the Brazil national team after the Seleção's exit from the 2026 World Cup, losing to Norway, thus ending a years-long journey in the national jersey.

The 34-year-old confirmed in his post-match comments that the 2026 World Cup was his last with Brazil, concluding an international career filled with significant milestones, yet without a World Cup title.

Neymar stated: "I tried, I tried, now it’s over, I started here, and I finished here."

With these words, he referred to MetLife Stadium, which hosted his first match for Brazil against the United States in a friendly in 2010, and the same stadium witnessed his final appearance with the Seleção.

Neymar concluded his international career with 80 goals in 130 matches for Brazil, becoming the all-time top scorer for the national team, surpassing Pelé.
