Palestinian Football Association Praises Hossam Hassan's Gesture

The Palestinian Football Association has sent a message of gratitude to Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egypt national team, following his humanitarian gesture of raising the Palestinian flag after leading the "Pharaohs" to qualify for the Round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup.

The Palestinian Association praised the act by the Egyptian coach after the victory over Australia in a penalty shootout, emphasizing that some victories transcend the boundaries of the pitch.

In a statement, the Palestinian Association said: "Not all victories are measured by results; some are measured by stances. Thank you, Captain Hossam Hassan, for proving that Palestine still resides in the hearts of the honorable, and that its flag will remain raised by the free everywhere."

The Egypt national team secured their place in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup after defeating Australia 4-2 on penalties, following a 1-1 draw in regular and extra time in the Round of 32.

The "Pharaohs" are set for an anticipated clash with Argentina in the Round of 16, with the match scheduled for next Tuesday evening at the Atlanta stadium, where the Egyptian team aims to continue their historic journey in the tournament.
