German coach Jurgen Klopp has agreed to lead the Germany national team in the upcoming period, having reached a preliminary agreement to take over the role from Julian Nagelsmann.

According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, Klopp has accepted the position, while discussions are still ongoing regarding the details of a long-term contract, the work project, and the mechanism for his exit from the "Red Bull" group before the official announcement.

Romano added that the "Red Bull" group had considered Oliver Glasner as a top candidate to replace Klopp in their project, but the Austrian coach has signed with Nottingham Forest.

This appointment comes after Nagelsmann's departure following Germany's exit in the Round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup, where they lost to Paraguay on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

It is worth noting that Klopp left Liverpool in 2024 and was among the candidates to take over at Real Madrid this summer, but he chose not to pursue that opportunity for now, prompting the Spanish club to turn their attention to Jose Mourinho, while the German coach has not ruled out the possibility of coaching Real Madrid in the future.
