Mustafa Shobair, Egypt's goalkeeper, expressed his immense joy at the Pharaohs' qualification for the Round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup after defeating Australia in the Round of 32.

Egypt triumphed over Australia on Friday via penalties, winning 4-2 after the match ended 1-1 in regular and extra time.

The Egyptian team is now preparing to face Argentina next Tuesday at 7 PM in the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup.

In statements reported by FIFA's official website, Mustafa Shobair described the achievement as dreamlike, adding, "We still can't comprehend that we've reached this stage. From day one, we knew we didn't want to return early."

The Egyptian goalkeeper emphasized that ambition has been present since the beginning of their journey, stating, "We didn't come here just to participate in the group stage and go home; we worked hard and gave our all. Luck may have played a role, but we also feel a great sense of fortune and we appreciate it greatly, hoping to continue delivering our best."
