Inter Milan and Thuram Fined for Offensive Banners
Inter Milan and their French striker Marcus Thuram have been fined €5,000 each after reaching a settlement with the disciplinary committee regarding offensive banners directed at AC Milan and its fans during the celebrations for winning the Serie A and Coppa Italia titles.
During the open-top bus parade through the streets of Milan, players received several banners and scarves from fans, before Thuram raised two banners deemed by the disciplinary committee to contain clearly offensive and derogatory messages towards Milan and its supporters.
One of the banners featured a large rat in AC Milan's red and black colors, while the other contained a derogatory phrase mocking Milan's derby victories this season.
Football Italia reported that the club and player were referred to the disciplinary committee, and after accepting a settlement, they were each fined €5,000 without any additional penalties imposed.
