Germany's Heartfelt Statement After Early Exit: We'll Come Back Stronger
The German national team issued an open letter to its fans following their early exit from the 2026 World Cup, acknowledging their failure to meet expectations and taking full responsibility for the performance that led to their departure from the tournament in the early knockout stages.
The statement read: "We wanted to embark on this journey with you and bring joy to Germany, but this year, as a team, we were unable to do so. We failed to show what this team can truly achieve, and thus we exited the tournament early, and rightly so."
The German team also emphasized their acceptance of sporting criticism but strongly condemned the hate campaigns and racist abuse directed at some players after the elimination, stating: "We accept the criticism aimed at our performance; it is justified and part of the sport. But there is no place for hate in football, and we will not tolerate racism or any other form of discrimination. Football symbolizes community and unity, not division."
They concluded their statement with a message of gratitude to their supporters, saying: "To everyone who supported us: Thank you for being there, and thank you for your amazing support. We will come back stronger... with you by our side," reinforcing the desire of the 'Mannschaft' to reclaim their status and return to strong competition in future tournaments.
