Balogun Joins Zidane and Ronaldinho in Rare World Cup List
Folarin Balogun, the forward for the United States national team, achieved a rare feat in the 2026 World Cup, becoming only the fourth player to score a goal and receive a red card in the same knockout match.
Balogun reached this milestone during the United States' clash against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Round of 32, where the American team is currently leading 2-0.
The American striker joins a rare list that includes Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, who scored and was sent off in the 2006 World Cup final, Brazilian Ronaldinho in the quarter-finals of 2002, and his compatriot Garrincha in the semi-finals of the 1962 World Cup.
The United States continues to lead Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 in the Round of 32 match.
