Tottenham Hotspur is looking to strengthen its goalkeeping position during the summer transfer window, having identified Manchester City’s James Trafford as a key target, despite recently signing Martin Dubravka as a backup keeper.

The Independent reports that the London club is pushing hard to secure the 23-year-old English goalkeeper, who has struggled for playing time at Manchester City, with the intention of competing with Antonin Kinski for the starting goalkeeper role next season.

Trafford is seeking regular playing opportunities after impressing at Burnley before his move to Manchester City, making him one of the standout English talents in goalkeeping.

The same source added that a move to Tottenham would be an attractive option for the young keeper if he can ensure consistent playing time, while negotiations with Manchester City will be the decisive factor in completing the deal.

The London club believes that signing Trafford for a reasonable fee could represent a successful long-term investment, given his potential to establish himself as a first-choice goalkeeper in the future.

These moves come amid expectations of Vicario's departure during the summer transfer window, with Tottenham wanting to have three goalkeepers on their roster in preparation for the new season.
