England midfielder Elliot Anderson stated that the team's fighting spirit was the key to their 2-1 victory over Congo, securing their place in the Round of 16 at the World Cup, praising the significant impact of the substitutes during the match.

Anderson told BBC: "It was a tough match, but we stuck together until the last moment, and we managed to qualify."

He added: "In such matches, you rely on the big players to make the difference in the end, while our role is to build attacks and try to get the ball to them in the best conditions."

He continued: "I think we improved as the match went on, but the first 20 minutes were not good. The opposing goalkeeper had an amazing game, and the substitutes made a big difference after coming on."

Anderson concluded his remarks by saying: "We will celebrate this victory with our fans, and then we will quickly return to work and focus on the next match."
