Bruno Genesio Appointed New Coach of Olympique Marseille

French club Olympique Marseille announced on Wednesday the appointment of Bruno Genesio as the new head coach of the first team, replacing Habib Beye, who was dismissed from his position yesterday as part of the club's new sports project aimed at boosting competitiveness both locally and in Europe.

The club confirmed in an official statement that Genesio will begin his duties on July 1, 2026, noting that his selection was due to his extensive experience in French and European football, as well as his ability to build teams, develop players, and achieve long-term technical stability.

Born in 1966, Genesio has an impressive coaching career, having led Olympique Lyon from 2015 to 2019, successfully guiding them to qualify for the UEFA Champions League twice, before taking on a role with Beijing Guoan in China, and then coaching Rennes, where he was awarded the Best Coach in Ligue 1 in 2022. He also led Lille last season to finish in the top three of the league.

Genesio expressed his happiness at taking the helm of Olympique Marseille, emphasizing that the sports project and ambitions presented by the club's management were decisive factors in his acceptance of the role, and he is determined to work with the coaching staff and players to build a team capable of meeting the expectations of the club's fans and competing at the highest levels.
