Barcelona Extends Andreas Christensen's Contract Until 2028
Barcelona has announced an agreement with Danish defender Andreas Christensen to extend his contract until June 30, 2028, allowing the player to continue his journey with the Catalan club for two more seasons.
The 30-year-old Christensen will enter his fifth season with Barcelona after joining the team in the summer of 2022 from Chelsea. Since his arrival, he has become a key figure in the backline thanks to his defensive strength, tactical intelligence, and ability to build play from the back.
The Danish defender has played 98 official matches for Barcelona, including 71 in La Liga, 15 in the UEFA Champions League, two in the UEFA Europa League, six in the Copa del Rey, and four in the Spanish Super Cup. He has also contributed to the team's success with three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey title, and three Spanish Super Cup titles.
Last season, Christensen suffered a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, sidelining him for 158 days before returning to participate in the final round of La Liga. The renewal of his contract reaffirms Barcelona's confidence in his abilities and experience, as the club looks forward to continuing to benefit from his expertise in the upcoming seasons.
