Bastoni Under Investigation in Milan
Alessandro Bastoni, the Inter Milan defender, is under investigation by the public prosecutor's office in Milan regarding a case involving suspected prostitution with minors, with no formal charges filed against him yet.
According to Italian newspaper "La Gazzetta dello Sport," Bastoni received an official notification stating that he is under investigation, a legal procedure in Italy that informs a person of an ongoing inquiry without implying any charges or guilt. The player is expected to appear for questioning in the coming days, making him the first footballer to be investigated in this case.
The investigations revolve around an escort agency based in Cinisello Balsamo, which prosecutors allege organized lavish parties for high-profile clients, including football players.
The newspaper clarified that Bastoni's name is linked to the case due to an allegation that he met a girl who was 17 years old at the time, based on chat records between the two, including a message reportedly dating back to June 2020. However, the girl herself, who provided her testimony as a witness, confirmed according to the report that no relationship occurred between her and the Inter Milan defender.
The same source noted that the Italian financial police summoned three other players to provide statements as witnesses only: Daniel Maldini, Riccardo Calafiori, and Kevin Bonifazi, none of whom are under investigation.
The case is being led by Deputy Prosecutor Bruna Albertini and Prosecutor Rosaria Stagnaro, as part of an investigation aimed at uncovering the agency's operational mechanisms. As of now, no charges have been filed against Bastoni, and he remains presumed innocent until legal proceedings are concluded.
