Kylian Mbappe spoke in a press statement following the 3-0 victory over Sweden and the qualification to the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, in the match held at the New York New Jersey stadium.
Mbappé said in statements after the match: "I know what I have to do, but it's not just about me. I believe the whole team fully understands what we need to do here. For us, a new tournament started today."
He added: "We played a good match, even though our start was somewhat cautious, but we gradually got into the rhythm of the game and created many opportunities that we could have capitalized on early. This is football, but we managed to score and controlled the match until the end."

The captain of the French national team concluded his remarks by discussing the upcoming match against Paraguay, saying: "We will now shift our focus to the next game. Paraguay has proven to be a team worthy of respect after eliminating Germany, and there are no easy matches in the World Cup."
