Al-Zawraa Announces the Departure of Jalal Hassan After 9 Seasons
Al-Zawraa Club officially announced the end of the journey of its international goalkeeper and captain Jalal Hassan with the team, following the management's decision not to renew his contract, which expired at the end of the last season 2025-2026. His departure marks the end of an entire era in the nest of the Eagles.
Jalal Hassan joined Al-Zawraa coming from Naft Al-Wasat Club in the 2016 season. Since his arrival, he established himself as one of the team's essential pillars and an indispensable cornerstone for years. He spent nine seasons wearing the leader's jersey, being the captain both on and off the field.
The international goalkeeper was not just a name in the lineup, but a part of the club's modern history. He achieved the Iraqi League title with Al-Zawraa, won the Iraq Cup in 2019, and added the Super Cup title in 2021. With his performance and consistency, he wrote his name among the legends of the club, being the 'impenetrable wall' in the toughest local and continental confrontations.
Al-Zawraa's management bid farewell to their captain with an official statement saying:
'Captain Jalal Hassan... Thank you for your dedication to the emblem. Nine seasons of belonging, during which I lived countless details, and kept faces that will remain etched in memory and moments that will accompany me wherever I go.'
I especially mention the great fans. Today, I leave Al-Zawraa but I do not leave the memories, the love, or the gratitude to everyone who shared this journey with me, stood by my side, and supported me with a word, a smile, or trust.
