Officially.. Napoli Announces the Departure of Eljif Elmas and His Return to Leipzig

Napoli officially announced the end of the loan period for Macedonian midfielder Eljif Elmas, who will return to his original club Leipzig, after the Italian club decided not to activate the purchase option included in the loan contract.

Napoli had the option to purchase Elmas for 16 million euros, but the club's management considered the financial value to be high and attempted to negotiate with Leipzig to reduce it. However, the German club refused to amend the terms of the agreement, resulting in the player's departure at the end of the loan period.

The 26-year-old North Macedonian international participated in 44 matches for Napoli last season across various competitions, scoring one goal and providing four assists. However, this was not enough to convince the club to activate the final purchase option.

With Elmas returning to Leipzig, his future will be open to several possibilities during the summer transfer window, amid interest from several European clubs in acquiring his services. Meanwhile, the German club will assess its position before making a final decision regarding his continuation or sale.
