The Dutch journalist Valentijn Driessen harshly criticized the Dutch national team players and their coach Ronald Koeman following their exit against Morocco in the 2026 World Cup, considering that the "Oranje" players overestimate themselves without translating that into performance on the field.

Dreesen said on the "Kick-Off" program of the "De Telegraaf" newspaper: "All Dutch national team players think they are extremely excellent. They constantly talk about the quality of the team and its cohesion, but we haven't seen any of that on the field." He added that the players lacked the character and ability to correct things themselves when the tactical plan set by Koeman failed.

The Dutch journalist pointed out that the team did not show any independence during the match, saying: "Even during the water break, no player dared to demand a change in style. These players only execute what the coach says, and that's what led to their exit." He also considered that the Moroccan team played in a style closer to the Dutch school, while the Dutch team appeared in an old and ineffective defensive version.

Driessen concluded his criticism by asserting that the Dutch national team not only lost the match but also its footballing reputation. He considered Ronald Koeman's tactical decisions to have put the Netherlands in an embarrassing position, and that stepping down as head coach has become the logical option after this failure.
