Manchester City Begins Moves to Sign Ayoub Bouaddi
Manchester City has begun its initial steps to contract Moroccan Ayoub Bouaddi, a player for the French club Lille, after he caught attention with his outstanding performance during the 2026 World Cup, hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano indicated that Manchester City held preliminary talks about signing the 18-year-old midfielder during the summer transfer window, as part of the club's ongoing monitoring of his talent.
Romano explained that Manchester City's management views Bouaddi as a long-term strategic target, not just a deal related to the current transfer market.
He added that the English club does not rule out reaching an agreement with Lille to keep the player within the French team's ranks for an additional season before officially joining City's squad at a later time.
Manchester City's interest comes after Bouaddi delivered remarkable performances with the Moroccan national team in the 2026 World Cup, which placed him on the radar of several major European clubs recently.
The player is under contract with Lille until the summer of 2029, with a current market value of approximately 50 million euros.
