Journalistic sources have revealed that the management of Al-Ahli Saudi Club is moving towards ending the relationship with Algerian player Riyad Mahrez during the current summer transfer window, despite the player's desire to complete his contract.

Sources told the "Asharq Al-Awsat" newspaper that Al-Ahli is considering activating the exit clause in Mahrez's contract, with the payment of the release clause amounting to $15 million.

According to reports, the reason for Al Ahly's decision to let the captain of the Algerian national team go is due to his high salary, as the management believes that restructuring the team's roster requires reducing financial burdens.

Mahrez had expressed his desire to continue with Al-Ahly for a fourth season, affirming his comfort within the club and his pursuit to keep winning championships with the team.

The Algerian star played a prominent role in Al-Ahly's victory in the AFC Champions League for the elite in the last two seasons, becoming one of the team's most important players during this period.

In the event of Mahrez's departure, Al-Ahli's management has begun to search for a strong offensive replacement, with German Karim Adeyemi, Borussia Dortmund's winger, entering the club's radar.

According to Sky Sports, Adeyemi is admired by Al-Ahly officials due to his speed and ability to play in multiple attacking positions, making him a suitable option.

Negotiations with the German player have not yet reached advanced stages, as the finalization of the deal is contingent on Al Ahly's final decision regarding Mahrez's future.

Al-Ahly continues to strengthen its ranks this summer, having signed several players as part of a plan to rebuild the team before the start of the new season.

The future of Riyad Mahrez remains the most anticipated issue within the club, especially as the decision regarding his continuation or departure from Al-Ahli's fortress approaches.
