Chelsea Receives £17 Million After Marisca's Move to Manchester City
Chelsea Football Club has confirmed reaching a confidential settlement with Manchester City, under which it will receive £17 million in compensation following the transfer of Italian coach Enzo Maresca to take over the management of City, succeeding Pep Guardiola.
Chelsea clarified in an official statement that the agreement came "under these circumstances and due to the mutual respect between the two clubs," noting that a confidential settlement was reached with Manchester City, which includes financial compensation, without disclosing the full details of the agreement.
The London club also stated that it reached a confidential settlement with former coach Enzo Maresca, under which the Italian coach will pay compensation to the club following his unexpected departure in the middle of the season, despite being under a long-term contract with Chelsea.
For his part, Mariska apologized to Chelsea fans for the manner in which he left the club, affirming that the decision to leave was personal. Meanwhile, Manchester City officially announced his appointment as head coach with a contract extending for three seasons, marking the beginning of a new era at the Etihad Stadium.
