Al Hilal Insists on Cancelo and Calls Him to Training Camp
Al Hilal Club continues to insist on keeping the Portuguese player Joao Cancelo, refusing to facilitate his return to Barcelona after calling the player to join the team's camp in preparation for the new season immediately after his participation with the Portugal national team in the 2026 World Cup ends.
The Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo' reported that Cancelo will officially return to Al Hilal on the first of July after his loan period to Barcelona ends, while the Saudi club insists on the contract extended between the two parties until 2027 and plans to include the player in the preparation period that will take place in Austria in mid-July.
Keeping the 32-year-old Portuguese fullback is a priority for Barcelona to strengthen the left-back position, but completing the deal requires reaching an agreement with Al Hilal regarding the transfer value, which may be less than 15 million euros.
The newspaper added that Cancelo wishes to continue his career with Barcelona, while his agent, Jorge Mendes, is expected to play a pivotal role in bridging the views between the two clubs, with the Catalan club's management realizing that negotiations may take several weeks after the opening of the summer transfer market.
