Officially.. Manchester City Appoints Enzo Maresca as Head Coach
Manchester City officially announced the appointment of Italian coach Enzo Maresca as the head coach of the first team, with a contract extending for three years until the summer of 2029. This marks his third tenure within the English club, succeeding the legendary coach Pep Guardiola.
Mariska expressed his happiness about returning to Manchester City, saying: "Manchester City is a club I know well, and getting the opportunity to coach this team is a fantastic opportunity for me. It is a club that is exceptionally well-managed, and everything it does is done in an innovative, thoughtful, and purposeful way. For any coach, this is an ideal environment that provides the necessary stability for success."
He added: "This is my third term here, and I know this club well. I understand the demands and expectations. I can't wait to start working with the players, and I want us to win, play beautiful football, and also enjoy the pressures that come with representing Manchester City."
For his part, club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak confirmed that Maresca is the ideal choice to lead the team, noting that his personality, passion, and intelligence perfectly align with the club's needs. He said, "Enzo has always been accustomed to challenging himself and striving for success in his coaching career. He returns to an institution that fully aligns with his ambition and desire to achieve accomplishments, and therefore, his return to Manchester City represents a natural and ideal step for both parties."
In turn, the club's CEO, Ferran Soriano, clarified that Maresca was the leading candidate for the position, adding: "We know his personality and vision for football; he is a man of integrity, charisma, and passion. Alongside his previous successes, his history with Manchester City speaks for itself, whether during his leadership of the youth team or his contribution to the historic season when the club achieved the treble. We will provide him with everything he needs to succeed, and we look forward to seeing him lead the next phase of the club's development."
