Napoli has begun steps to renew the contract of Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay, as club president Aurelio De Laurentiis aims to eliminate any doubts surrounding the player's future with the team.

The "Football Italia" website, citing "Calcio Mercato," indicated that McTominay has become one of the key pillars at Napoli since joining from Manchester United in 2024, having played a significant role in the team's Italian league title win. He is expected to maintain his starting position even after Antonio Conte's departure and Massimiliano Allegri's imminent appointment as the team's manager.

The site added that the 29-year-old player will hold a meeting in the coming weeks with the sporting director Giovanni Manna and president De Laurentiis to discuss extending his current contract, which expires in June 2028.

Despite the interest of several major clubs in signing the Scottish international and their readiness to present lucrative financial offers, Napoli's management is keen on retaining the player and is working to secure his stay with a new contract.

The report confirmed that expectations indicate McTominay will continue with Napoli in the long term, as the club is keen on retaining his services and eager to settle his future early.
