Sunderland Rejects Chelsea's Official Offer for Xhaka

Sunday 28-06-2026
Sunderland has rejected an official offer from Chelsea to sign Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka during the current summer transfer window, affirming their commitment to keeping the player and their intention not to let him go.

According to journalist David Ornstein, Chelsea made an offer valued at 8 million pounds, but Sunderland's management clearly informed the London club that Chaka is not for sale, and no new offers for his transfer will be considered this summer.

The report indicated that Chelsea officials considered the offer's value appropriate given the player's age, 33 years old. However, Sunderland's stance was decisive in rejecting the deal and keeping the Swiss star within the team.

Press reports indicated that coach Xabi Alonso expressed his desire to sign Xhaka, having previously worked together and achieved great success during their time at Bayer Leverkusen.

On the other hand, Xhaka expressed his openness to a new experience and moving to Chelsea to work again under the leadership of Xabi Alonso. However, Sunderland's insistence on keeping the player has prevented the deal from being completed so far.
