Prominent Resignation in Real Madrid's Medical Structure

Sunday 28-06-2026
Manuel Arroyo, the first team doctor for Real Madrid, has submitted his resignation from his position, leaving the royal club before the start of the new season, less than a year after joining the medical staff.

ESPN reported that Arroyo informed Real Madrid's management of his decision to leave, confirming that he will not continue with the team for the upcoming season, without revealing the reasons that led him to take this step.

The network added that Arroyo joined Real Madrid in August 2025, coming from the first team of Granada Club, and has since worked under the supervision of Felipe Segura, the head of the club's medical staff.

This resignation comes at a time when Real Madrid is facing criticism due to the numerous injuries that have hit the team in recent seasons, after several prominent players, such as Éder Militão, Dani Carvajal, Ferland Mendy, and Rodrygo, suffered various injuries.

The report indicated that the team suffered 55 injuries last season, with only four players escaping injuries, and the medical staff also sparked controversy after a misdiagnosis of the knee injury sustained by Kylian Mbappé.

Felipe Segura continues to lead the first team's medical staff, while Croatian doctor Niko Mihic returned to Real Madrid in January 2026, to oversee all medical services in various sectors of the club, after previously holding the same position between 2017 and 2023.
