The Main Challenges Awaiting Laporta in His New Term with Barcelona
Joan Laporta is preparing to begin a new term as the head of FC Barcelona, as he officially assumes the position of club president starting from July 1st, following his victory in the elections held last March.
Laporta will inaugurate his new term in an official ceremony held in the "Auditori 1899" hall, where he is expected to outline the main goals for the upcoming phase, foremost among them the completion of the Spotify Camp Nou stadium development project and the "Espai Barcelona" project.
Completing the stadium development is one of the main challenges for the new management, as the club aims to finish the third tier and hospitality seats in the upcoming season, with the stadium reaching its full capacity before starting the roof installation. Meanwhile, the construction of the new "Palau Blaugrana" hall is expected to begin at the start of 2027.
On the economic front, Laporta's administration aims to continue the club's financial recovery, nearing the restoration of the "1-1" rule of financial fair play in La Liga, with expectations of a significant increase in revenue following the completion of the new stadium project.
On the sports side, Barcelona aims to continue its domestic success after winning the Spanish league title in the past two seasons under the leadership of coach Hans Flick, with a focus on reclaiming the UEFA Champions League title, which has been absent from the club's trophy cabinet since 2015.
The management also continues to work on strengthening the team during the summer transfer window, after the club signed Anthony Gordon, with Argentine striker Julian Alvarez being a top priority to reinforce the frontline.
