Officially.. Ecuador's President Declares National Holiday After Qualifying for World Cup Round of 32

Friday 26-06-2026
Ecuadorian President Daniel Noboa officially announced that Friday, June 26, will be a national holiday across the country in celebration of the Ecuadorian national team's qualification for the round of 32 in the 2026 World Cup.

The decision came following the historic victory of the Ecuadorian national team over Germany with a score of 2-1 in the final round of the group stage, a result that granted "La Tri" a ticket to the knockout stages as one of the best third-placed teams.

Noboa issued Executive Decree No. 431, which stipulates the suspension of work in both the public and private sectors on Friday, June 26, with the holiday being non-compensable. Essential services such as health, security, energy, transportation, and banking will continue to operate.

The president also sent a message of thanks to the national team players and the coaching staff, praising their ability to overcome criticism and achieve an accomplishment that delighted the entire Ecuadorian people.
