Friday 26-06-2026
Joshua Kimmich, the captain of the German national team, admitted that his team made mistakes that facilitated Ecuador's task, allowing them to come from behind to win 2-1 and secure a spot in the round of 32 of the 2026 World Cup.

Kimmich said, "We started the match well, but we lost the ball too easily and allowed the opponent to continuously pressure us."

He added, "We made it easy for them and gave them the opportunity to get into the game, and in the second half, the defeat was deserved."

The match ended with Ecuador's national team winning 2-1. Germany's national team opened the scoring in the second minute through Leroy Sané, before Ecuador equalized in the ninth minute with a goal by Nilson Angulo. The second goal came from Gonzalo Plata in the 78th minute.
