Tuesday 23-06-2026
Former Zamalek and Egypt national team star and sports media personality Ahmed Hossam 'Mido' suffered a sudden health crisis that required his transfer to a hospital in Cairo, where he underwent urgent medical examinations that revealed he had suffered a mild stroke, according to informed sources.

The Al-Nahar TV network, where Mido works as a program presenter, announced the news on its official Facebook page, wishing him a speedy recovery and a quick return to his audience and fans.

The network's statement read: 'The Al-Nahar TV network family extends its sincerest wishes for a full recovery and well-being to Captain Mido, and we ask God to grant him a speedy recovery and reassure his fans as soon as possible.'

Reports revealed that the medical examinations conducted on Mido confirmed he had suffered a mild stroke, indicating that he is still under medical care and close monitoring in the hospital to ensure his health condition is stable.

Mido was absent from the latest episode of the television program he co-hosts with media personality Ahmed Shobier on Al-Nahar channel, amid expectations that he will continue to stay off-screen in the coming days until he completes his treatment and recovery period.

This health crisis comes hours after a court ruling was issued upholding a seven-month prison sentence for his son in a case related to possession of narcotics, along with fines for traffic violations.

The Court of Appeal upheld the sentence previously issued against Mido's son, after the Child Criminal Court held at the Amiriya Court Complex had sentenced him to seven months in the case known in the media as the drug and vandalism case and resisting authorities, which dates back to his arrest within the jurisdiction of the Fifth Settlement Police Department in New Cairo.
