Mourinho Looks for a New 'Joselu'

José Mourinho continues to work on completing the features of his new project with Real Madrid, taking advantage of the World Cup period to finalize the team's needs before the start of the next season.

According to Spanish press reports, the Portuguese coach still prioritizes signing a new defender and a midfielder during the summer transfer window, with names like Ruben Dias and Alessandro Bastoni standing out to strengthen the backline, alongside Matheus Fernandes and Enzo Fernandez to bolster the midfield.

Despite his focus on these positions, Mourinho does not rule out signing a traditional striker who would provide the team with an additional solution inside the penalty area, serving as an alternative plan in complex matches, similar to the role Joselu played with Real Madrid during the 2023-2024 season.

In this context, Mourinho requested to temporarily halt any moves regarding the departure of the young striker Gonzalo Garcia, in order to assess him during the preparation period for the new season, especially if the club struggles to sign the forward the coach is looking for.

Gonzalo is attracting interest from Real Betis, but Mourinho believes he has distinctive offensive qualities, most notably his movement inside the penalty area and his proficiency in aerial play, making him a player worth monitoring before making a final decision about his future.

On the other hand, the idea of signing a new striker does not affect Mourinho's plans for the Brazilian Endrick, who is considered by the coach for the next season due to his ability to play in multiple attacking positions, whether as a striker or on the right wing.

It appears that the striker position is not a current priority for Real Madrid, as Mourinho is focusing more on acquiring a midfielder who combines physical strength and creativity, in addition to strengthening the defensive line. The club may also need to sell one of their midfielders to finance the anticipated signings.
